Jambunathan earns top awards

2014_sum_scholarship_jaya_jambunathan_150When College of Nursing professor Jayalakshmi Jambunathan earned both the Edward M. Penson Distinguished Teaching Award and the Barbara G. Sniffen Faculty Governance Service Award during the 2013 Opening Day ceremony last September, she became the first to receive all of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s faculty awards.

A valued faculty member since 1987, Jambunathan excels in teaching, scholarship and service to the University and community. She is the director of Research and Evaluation in the College. She also chairs the Research and Professional Development Committee, the College of Nursing Faculty Search and Screen Committee, the Promotions Committee and the Evaluation Committee.

She has taught in the Undergraduate Traditional and Accelerated BSN Options and currently teaches in the Graduate (MSN) and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs. Jambunathan has been an adviser to numerous graduate student theses, clinical papers and doctoral student capstone projects. She also is committed to enhancing international relationships between UW Oshkosh and universities in India.

Jambunathan earned her baccalaureate degree in nursing from UW Oshkosh, her master’s degree in nursing with an emphasis in primary healthcare from UW Oshkosh and her doctorate in nursing from UW–Milwaukee.
