Student enjoys accounting experience and internship perks!

Robbie Bellile, 4imprint Accounting Intern

4imprint first came to Oshkosh in 1988 under the name of Nelson Marketing. The company is a distributor of promotional products with its only North American office located right in downtown Oshkosh. 4imprint primarily focuses on large quantity business-to-business transactions in its business model, and it gets most of its sales through an interactive website and a catalog that is sent out a few times a year, and it has been generating record revenues and is growing at a very rapid pace.

My internship is in the accounts payable section of the accounting department. My primary responsibility involves obtaining and processing credit that is received from vendors through an accounting software system. Other jobs I do in a typical week include processing invoices, contacting vendors about credit,  filling out vendor request forms, and filling out miscellaneous customer forms as requested. This wide variety of responsibilities keeps me on my toes every day.

4imprint is a unique workplace, considering that it is an international corporation. The company allows casual dress on a daily basis, and the management strives to make the office a place where everyone can feel comfortable and happy. Food is catered in for breakfast and lunch on a daily basis, and there are many opportunities and contests to win prizes to provide some fun options while at work. I look forward to continue improving my skills for the future, and building a network that I can rely on once I need a full time position in the future.

N&M Transfer offers a valuable HR internship experience!

Lindsey Schmitz, Human Resources Assistant

N&M Transfer is a family owned trucking company located in Neenah, WI that specializes in providing next day delivery to their customers. N&M Transfer began in 1964, with only a few trucks and servicing only the cities of Neenah and Menasha.  Since then, it has grown to over 825 employees, over 450 tractors and trailers, and services the entire Midwest.  N&M prides itself on their on-time delivery percentage that is consistently above 99%.  With this high of an on-time delivery percentage, N&M guarantees to their customers that the product will get to the intended destination, on time and in one piece.  Due to their commitment to customer satisfaction, N&M will continue to grow and be a successful business.

I began my internship with N&M in May as their Human Resources Assistant.   The main objective of my position is to maintain the continuity of the Human Resource Department, so I am doing a wide variety of tasks to help out.  I started out concentrating on entering employee write-ups into the computer, assembling orientation packets, maintaining the employee files, and assisting applicants.  Looking back to when my internship began, I am realizing how far I have come.  Now I am doing some more relevant HR tasks with little supervision, such as looking at resumes, doing background checks, calling references, setting up interviews, testing the candidate, sitting in on interviews, and getting some input as to who should be hired.  I also get to help out with new hire orientations, sit in on terminations, and assist with the compensation and benefits aspect of HR.

For the duration of my internship, I have been working on an on-going project of pulling all 450 driver’s Motor Vehicle Records.  This is a very long and tedious project that involves a lot of follow- up and organization to keep track of the 450 MVRs coming in from all over the Midwest.  This project provided me with the opportunity to work with the driver trainers, accounts receivable, the vice president, terminal managers, and many of the truck drivers that I wouldn’t have interacted with had I not been involved with the project.

I have learned so much during my internship about professionalism, what I want from a company, and most of all gained great experience with a wide variety of Human Resource tasks.  I learned that my main area of interest is recruiting and was able to gain solid experience in that area. I absolutely love working at N&M and being able to learn from such a great HR Department.  I am confident that I can take the skills and experience I gained from my internship and use it to help me be more successful in my future career.
