On Saturday December 17, 2011, the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh College of Business (COB) wrapped up another successful semester by participating in the University commencement ceremony. The COB graduated 137 undergraduate students and 25 graduate students this fall. These talented and successful graduates will be able to take their outstanding education and move into the competitive career world.
25 completed their MBA degree
36 completed a marketing major
17 completed an accounting major
26 completed an HR management major
42 completed finance a major
24 completed an economics major
22 completed a supply chain and operations management major
2 completed a management information systems major
47 undergrads completed double majors
8 students completed a minor in insurance and financial planning
4 students completed global business minors
In addition to all the new graduates, the College of Business had many exciting updates this semester. Several faculty members received awards for excellence in teaching and research and one faculty member began his time teaching in Egypt. The COB and the Wisconsin Family Business Forum also welcomed new staff members this semester.
International travel during January 2012 was popular with a total of 36 students traveling abroad in January 2012 for international study credit. 15 undergraduate and 3 graduate students traveled to Fulda, Germany, for two weeks, and 17 undergraduate students and 1 graduate student traveled to Peru for 25 days. There were also 6 scholarships given to COB students for a total amount of $6,800 for the fall 2011 semester.
The annual COB Networking Night in September had 41 different organizations and businesses represented. Student organizations received distinguished awards for academics and dedication. The Iota Rho chapter of Beta Alpah Psi received recognition on its academic performance, professionalism and leadership. And the APICS chapter at UWO was recognized for setting the record of the most awards than any other chapter with a total of 24 Gold Awards.
There are more great things planned for the College in spring 2012. The semester marks the start of the new Emerging Leaders program and of two new student organizations: Students in Free Enterprise and College Entrepreneur’s Organization. The College of Business MBA Program will also be hosting an MBA-only international study trip to China and Korea in May 2012.
