Hello Everyone!

My name is Marie. As you can see from the pictures above I love to have fun and try new things.  The reason I chose these pictures is because they are the furthest South I have been…..until now! I am so excited for Guatemala and all of the memories I will make! Before I get ahead of myself let me tell you about myself.  I am a sophomore majoring in Human Resource Management with an Emphasis in Web Presence Management.  I was just accepted into the College of Business (wahoo!!) so this is my first semester in my program.  I also work on campus as a Community Advisor (CA) a.k.a the people who bust all the parties on campus.  I love my job and I love the staff I work with.  It has been a wonderful experience, and I will come back next year to continue it!  I am also involved in Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, and they have been wonderful to me throughout my two years here.  Although my hometown is farther away then most other people’s (3 whole hours) I really like it here and I have learned so much about myself.

I am not the type of person who is super passionate about one thing, I have many different things that I like to do, all in moderation.  When I was in high school I was a major band geek (yet my younger brother far surpasses me in musical talent), I played the clarinet and alto sax.  Band is actually how I was able to take my trip to Florida, and it was so amazing!  I was also very involved in 4-H.  Which most people find surprising because I am the farthest thing from a country girl. I am a city girl, and always will be.  This just proves that 4-H is not all about the cows (S/O to Clover Express–the least farm based 4-H club I know). Through 4-H I had some wonderful experiences including staying a week on the UW-Madison campus, traveling to Washington D.C. (on a bus might I add), and going to Louisiana (S/O to my host families).  All of these experiences were incredible and taught me a lot about myself.  I also love photography, I will take pictures of anything and everything (I don’t have much on it,  but follow me on Instagram).  I also love hanging out with friends and family.  They are definitely the most important part of my life.  I have wonderful parents, a younger brother, the cutest puppy in the world (seriously if you saw a picture of her she would kill you with cuteness), an awesome boyfriend, and some amazing friends from high school and college (more will be made in Guatemala)! I love to travel, but I have never been outside of the U.S. (I went to Canada once for a couple of hours, but I don’t count that) and I am so excited to finally leave!

I am most looking forward to all of the friends I will make, what I will learn about myself/how I will grow to become a better person, and being humbled by a lifestyle so different than my own.

I am least looking forward to possibly getting sick (by far my biggest fear), heavy coffee bags, and being sore.

I would just like to end by thanking everyone who has been supporting me throughout this trip.  I am so thankful for all the support I have from everyone and I love you all!  Thank you for coming to Buffalo Wild Wings, participating in ASB trivia night, donating money to me through the letters I wrote, or by reading our blog.  This experience is going to be incredible and I am so excited to document it and share it with everyone.  If you have any questions/comments(sorry I cant bring coffee back for everyone)/concerns(dad, don’t post all your concerns on here)/or just anything you would like to see from us let us know in the comments!  This blog is so we can share what you want to know, so let us know!

Thank you all, everyone involved in Alternative Spring Break greatly appreciates it!
