The one thing that people often overlook when traveling are the radio stations available in certain areas. How many times have you been driving on the highway jamming out to one of your favorite songs when a static noise overtakes the beat of the song and you realize the signal for the station was lost?
Well, when you’re coming to the Oshkosh area you won’t need to worry about that anymore! I will spare you some frustration by getting you familiar with some of the radio stations in the Fox Valley area. That way, you can tune into whatever station best fits your musical interests and can enjoy your ride around Oshkosh.
PS: If you have a CD player, iPod or other music device, this is still a nice list to have. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had those technologies fail, only to be left in a static radio mess…
Contemporary Hit Radio:
For those of you who like pop and hip hop singers like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Chris Brown you will probably want to tune into:
- 101.1 WIXX
- 104.7 WBJZ
- 95.9 WKSZ
These stations all play the Top 40 songs in the nation.
Personal Tip: If you hate the commercials I would tune into 104.7. They’re known for having the least amount of commercials per hour. That means more jamming out time!
For all that like to rock out to bands like the Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam and Metallica these next stations are the perfect for you:
- 93.5 WRQE
- 105.7 WAPL
- 94.7 WZOR
- 94.3 WYDR
If you enjoy country singers like Miranda Lambert, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, and Taylor Swift, you will want to check out these stations:
- 99.5 WPKR
- 100.3 WNCY
I know we’ve got some oldies fans out there, whether it is your parents or yourself (don’t be ashamed, I’m an oldies fan too) so here are a few stations we’ve got that play the oldies nonstop:
- 103.1 WOGB
- 103.9 WVBO
Don’t worry, I didn’t forget about the alternative music lovers. If you enjoy Mumford and Sons, Radiohead, or Madness we’ve got two stations just for you!
- 96.9 WWWX
- 106.7 WKRU
If you want to hear a wide mix of music and let the radio decide what you’re in the mood for, then here are some stations to tune in to:
And of course there’s UW Oshkosh’s own radio station, WRST. It’s completely student-run with a great hodgepodge of programming. Anything from hard rock, to bluegrass, to fusion can be found somewhere in the WRST playbook.
- 90.3 WRST
Now you can jump in your car and be confident that once your hometown stations transition into dreaded static noise, all you have to do is look at this list and tune into whatever station you want without the frustration of screening/scanning for a good radio station.
