Bike Patrol Unit

In 1995, our department formed the first bicycle patrol unit in Winnebago County. This specialized unit's objective is to supplement traditional police patrols. Our bike patrol officers find that they can patrol the campus area very effectively due to their ability to go virtually anywhere. Bike patrol officers are very approachable by the public and are often stopped to answer questions or just to chat. The U.W. Oshkosh campus has a very high volume of pedestrian traffic, day and night, and the bike patrol unit enjoys unique advantages in accomplishing our law enforcement mission.
