MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS

In late 1984, the University Police began compiling Uniform Traffic Accident Reports.  While the City of Oshkosh Police handle all accidents occurring on city streets, the University Police handle the accidents occurring on university property (predominately parking lots).  In total, 51 such reports were handled in 2000.  The most common characteristic of these accidents is “property damage” as indicated below.

WISCONSIN CITATIONS FOR NON-CRIMINAL VIOLATIONS

Violations of Wisconsin State Statute Chapter 125, 947 and UWS Chapter 18 include violations that may not warrant the physical arrest of an individual.  These violations may be handled in a non-criminal manner similar to that of a traffic violation.  The university police may handle these violations by simply issuing an individual a written citation and releasing them.  The following categories indicate the number of incidents, by year handled in this manner.  Chapter 125 violations are those pertaining to liquor laws, UWS Chapter 18 pertain to violations of University System ordinances not requiring criminal prosecution and Chapter 947 violations are those pertaining to harassment.
