
The course is a three credit Spring Interim course that explores the history of architecture, furniture and costume from Ancient Egypt to the 20th Century. The first half of the course provides lecture and discussion on these historical periods at UW Oshkosh; the second half of the course sets out for London, Stratford, Bath and Paris to explore first hand architecture, clothing and furniture at historic sights and museums, and attend theatre performances.
London/England Tour includes:
The Globe Theatre, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Roman Baths, Museum
of
Costume, and The Royal Crescent in Bath, Warwick Castle,
Shakespeare’s
Birthplace and the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford upon Avon,
Victoria and Albert Museum, The British Museum, Hampton Court Palace,
and a walking tour in London which includes Westminster Abbey,
Buckingham Palace and other historical sights.
Paris Tour
includes: Palace of Versailles, Louvre Museum, Notre Dame
Cathedral,, Musee Galleria, Museum of Decorative Arts, and a walking
tour of architecture.
This is a tentative itinerary and subject to change. Applications due February 8th for this program.
Price includes: round trip airfare to/from Chicago, transportation to and from airports, transport pass in London for 7 days, and Paris for 4 days, transportation to events listed in itinerary, hotels(breakfast included), entrance fees to museums, sights and theatres listed in the itinerary, dinner in Bath and last night of tour in Paris, high tea in Stratford, travel insurance and instructors.
Note: There are no prerequisites for Theatre 202, and it will
be of interest to any
student, especially those with interests in Art, History, and Theatre.
Course is a history elective in the Theatre major.
