Austin, an aspiring screenwriter in his early 30s is left in charge of his mother's house in southern California. Lee, Austinâ's older brother, a drifter and demented thief drops in to visit. As the expectations and optimism shift from brother to brother the lines between the roles they have set out to play in life reverse leaving an environment turned upside down when the mother returns. This comedy illustrates the roles family and society expect of us and what happens if we are allowed to explore our own passions.

 

Pygmalion

A phonetics expert, Henry Higgins changes a flower girl, Eliza Doolittle into a duchess thus altering societies'€™ expectations of her in the position she has held. This comedy looks at how the various levels of English society saw one another at the turn of the last century and what happens when a member from one level is intentionally changed to give the appearance of being in another. Even the best intentions can have devastating effects when the expected boundaries are crossed.

 

Odell and Myrna

A couples lives are turned upside down when a treasure of American Literature is found in the back yard garden. The expectations of others regarding the valuable documents and their own expectations for the future drive their decision making until a sober view of what is most important to them develops.

 

Doubt

The truth is what Sister Aloysius is after when confronting Father Flynn about what she assumes is inappropriate behavior with a student. But doubt, as to what has happened, permeates this story. The expectations and trust of authority are called into question when it is suspected that a teacher and religious figure, has over stepped their boundaries.

Grapes of Wrath

Based on a novel by John Steinbeck, written by Frank Galati

Directed by Jane Purse-Wiedenhoeft

April 29 - May 2, 2009 at 7:30 pm, May 3 at 2 pm

Winner of the 1990 Tony Award and the Outer Critics Circle Award, this classic story of a family's attempt to find happiness in the midst of the 1930s Depression is a time-less tale. Follow the Joad family as they struggle to pursue their dreams in the midst of an uncaring society and the assumed expectations it brings.

 

Ticket prices are $10 for general, $8 for Senior Citizen and UWO Students with ID $3.00

The Box office will be open the week of the productions Monday-Friday, Noon-2 pm and evenings of performance 5pm - 7:30 pm. Performance Sundays the box office will open one hour before show time.
