Scholarship Opportunities

The Psychology Department is now accepting applications for scholarships to be awarded during the Fall 2010-Spring 2011 academic year. Completed scholarship applications should be turned into the Psychology Department office, Clow Faculty 29, by November 16th, 2009.  Students will be informed as to whether they received a scholarship by the end of April. The exact amount of each scholarship will be determined. In the past, awards have varied between $700-$2,000.

Complete applications should include the following:

  • Completed application form (pdf application can be found on the Psychology website.  Click into Undergraduate Studies, Scholarships, and then pdf application)
  • Two page essay discussing personal, educational, and career plans and goals
  • Recent STAR report or transcript
  • Two recommendation letters (one from a psychology faculty member)

More specific information about each of the scholarships can be found on the Psychology website. 

The George R. Soika Scholarship Fund will award one scholarship payable toward tuition the following fall. Applicants must:

  • Be full-time enrolled Psychology majors
  • Have one to three semesters remaining at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh
  • Have a grade point average of 3.25 or better

The Roy C. Dixon-Robinson Memorial Scholarship Fund will award one scholarship payable toward tuition the following fall. Applicants must:

  • Be a sophomore or junior majoring in psychology
  • Have a grade point average of 3.0 or better
  • Demonstrate financial need

The Som N. Ghei and Ram Kaur Ghei Scholarship Fund will award one scholarship to a female psychology major payable toward tuition the following fall. Applicants must:

  • Be full-time enrolled Psychology majors.
  • Have one to three semesters remaining at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.
  • Have a Grade Point Average of 3.00 or better.
  • Have a financial need.
  • Be able to demonstrate breadth of interest within and beyond psychology.
  • Be planning to attend graduate school in psychology.

If the student who receives this scholarship is accepted into the graduate program in Psychology at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, she is eligible for an additional $1500 to be applied to tuition in the first semester of full-time graduate study.
