The Psychology Department is now accepting applications for scholarships for the 2012-2013 academic year. Scholarship winners will be announced in Spring, 2012.  Completed scholarship applications should be turned in to the Psychology Department office, Clow Faculty 29, by Friday February 24th at 3:00 pm.  Complete applications should include the following:

  • Completed application form (pdf application)
  • 1-3 page double-spaced essay discussing educational and career plans.  Students should also discuss how experiences outside their college classes (e.g., research experience, volunteer work, work experience, club activities) have contributed to their educational experience. 
    [For the Dixon-Robinson and the Ghei Scholarships, this essay must also discuss financial need.]
  • Recent STAR report or transcript
  • Two faculty recommendation forms (at least one must be from a psychology faculty member).  Give the form to the faculty member at least a week before the Feb. 24 deadline and ask them to turn it in to Mary Bleser in the Psychology Department office.

The George R. Soika Scholarship Fund will award one $800 scholarship payable toward tuition the following fall. Applicants must:

  • Be full-time enrolled Psychology majors
  • Have one to three semesters remaining at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh
  • Have a grade point average of 3.25 or better

The Roy C. Dixon-Robinson Memorial Scholarship Fund will award one $500 scholarship payable toward tuition the following fall. Applicants must:

  • Be full-time Psychology majors
  • Have one to three semesters remaining at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh
  • Have a grade point average of 3.00 or better
  • Demonstrate financial need

The Som N. Ghei and Ram Kaur Ghei Scholarship Fund will award one $2,000 scholarship to a female psychology major payable toward tuition the following fall. The family designated this scholarship for female students in honor of the donor’s grandmother who was never able to obtain an education.  Applicants must:

  • Be full-time enrolled Psychology majors
  • Have one to three semesters remaining at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh
  • Have a grade point average of 3.00 or better
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Be able to demonstrate breadth of interest within and beyond psychology
  • Be planning to attend graduate school in psychology  
If the student who receives this scholarship is accepted into the graduate program in Psychology at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, she is eligible for an additional $1500 to be applied to tuition in the first semester of full-time graduate study.
