Take an active role in your education and become involved! The Psychology Club and Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology, provide a scholarly and social environment for students interested in the scientific study of behavior. Enhancing their education, these groups present students the opportunity to learn more about their field of study.

Psi Chi

In general, the purpose of Psi Chi is twofold.  First, membership in Psi Chi serves as recognition for outstanding academic achievement.  More importantly, however, Psi Chi is intended to foster academic, personal, and professional growth.  In other words, membership in Psi Chi involves more than a “line on a resume.”  With that in mind, active participation in Psi Chi may include:  organized debates on hot-button topics in the field of psychology, trips to local mental health facilities, workshops about the ins and outs of applying to graduate school, fund raising, and cooperative events with other Honor Societies on campus (e.g., philosophy, sociology) [More general information about Psi Chi can be found on Society website at http://www.psichi.org].

Psychology Club

Psychology Club is open to any student with an interest in psychology. It is not exclusively for psychology major and minors. The group offers activities such as off campus speakers, faculty presentations, discussions, social events, psychology movie nights, volunteer opportunities, various informative workshops, and occasionally trips to mental health agencies in the community. Various psychology topics are discussed such as disorders, cognitive processes, research methods, possible careers, and graduate programs.

Psychology Club meets every other Tuesday at 7:00 PM in Clow 107. Our first meeting of this semester was February 14th, 2012.

Feel free to email psychclub@uwosh.edu if you would like to join the email list or if you have any questions! Or you can check out our facebook group, "UW Oshkosh - Psychology Club".
