Research

All students become involved in numerous research projects, culminating in the thesis. Opportunities for training in a wide range of areas allow students to pursue collaborative projects with faculty, resulting in presentations at regional, national and international conferences and authorship on peer-reviewed publications. Membership in professional societies such as the American Psychological Society, American Psychological Association, etc. is encouraged to keep students current with ongoing research activities in experimental psychology and related fields. For a list of ongoing research programs, please visit the psychology department site.

Facilities

Students have access to the full range of research and support facilities provided by the psychology department. A number of computer labs exist on campus as well as computers dedicated solely to psychology students. All of these provide on-line access to the internet and, via the university library, data bases for literature searches as well as an effective interlibrary loan system for items not found in the campus collections. Other research facilities include several small rooms for testing human participants, an animal colony for physiological and behavioral studies, a vision lab and a physiograph dedicated to human physiological data collection.
