I received my B.A. in Psychology from Willamette University (Salem, OR) and my M.S. and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Colorado State University (Fort Collins, CO). I also have a graduate certificate in Women’s Studies from Colorado State University. I completed my Predoctoral Internship at the University of Utah Counseling Center prior to coming to the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh as an Assistant Professor.

My research interests center around gender and cultural influences on human behavior. Specifically, I investigate issues of suicidality and vocational choices faced by understudied groups including ethnic minorities, women, and older adults. The goal of my suicidality studies is to examine interpersonal and cultural risk and protective factors across the lifespan. In addition to suicidal behavior, I am exploring cultural factors in the underrepresentation of women and some ethnic minorities in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers. Information gathered from these studies may help to explain why despite the ability, drive and interest in math-related careers, many women do not pursue education and careers in these fields.

Currently Teaching: General Psychology (PSYCH 101), Psychology of Gender (PSYCH 260), and Practices in Clinical Psychology (PSYCH 481).
