Camps for Individuals with Disabilities

  • Alternative Summer Camps[ Kids/Teens/Mature Teens ] - Therapeutic wilderness experiences for adolescents, pre-teens, and adults. Descriptions and links for a variety of programs in different states.
  • Aspen Camp School for the Deaf - Summer and winter camp programs for kids ages 8-18 who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Australia - Camp Quality - A non-profit, volunteer organisation providing support for children with cancer. Fourteen Australian locations covering every State and Territory in Australia. Over 4000 families each year participate in the programme and more than 34 children's camps are held each year. The Australian programme also includes Family Cluster Weekend Camps, special family activities, hospital visits, parent and grandparent luncheons and a newsletter 6 times a year.
  • Brigadoon[ Kids/Teens/Mature Teens ] - A feature not-for-profit, year-round camp facility for special children and youth with chronic illnesses.
  • California - Camp ReCreation - A residential summer camp program which offers participants with developmental disabilities opportunities for fun, social interaction, skill development, and spiritual growth while increasing the awareness and acceptance of participants in the larger community.
  • California - Happy Adventure Summer Camp - The only day summer camp serving severely developmentally and physically disabled children and young adults from Santa Barbara, Carpinteria, and Ventura.
  • Camp Courage. A year-round recreational camping and respite facility for disabled individuals of all ages. (http://www.campcourageous.org)
  • Camp Heartland[ Kids/Teens/Mature Teens ] - Camping and outreach program for children ages 7 to 16 who are living in the shadow of HIV or AIDS. Offers information on how to help, support services, and camping.
  • Camp Huntington[ Kids/Teens/Mature Teens ] - Summer recreation program for learning and developmentally disabled boys and girls in High Falls, New York. Offers three programs and a request form.
  • Camp Jened. A New York camp serving adults with disabilities. http://campjened.org/
  • Camp Kirk[ Kids/Teens ] - Offers a non-competitive atmosphere which allows children with learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, or enuresis the opportunities to experience a residential camp without being ostracized. Contains rates, dates, and an application form.
  • Camp Kodiak[ Kids/Teens/Mature Teens ] - Offers children and teens with and without learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder a Non-competitive environment. Contains a list of activities, rates, information request form, and photo gallery.

    A special camp for special kids, camping, recreation,and education for persons with developmental challenges.
  • Camping Unlimited[ Kids/Teens/Mature Teens ] - Residential camp for children with developmental disabilities in Northern California's Santa Cruz Mountains. Features programs, history, facilities, and staff application form.

  • Camp Quality Ohio - Free week-long camp and year round support services for children with cancer.
  • Camp Rubber Soul - A recreation camp offering one week overnight sessions for children with varying degrees of disabilities. A one to one counselor ratio offers a unique, fulfilling, and rewarding experience.
  • Camp Sandy Wheels (www.cpmideastwis.org ) A recreational camp for individuals with cerebral palsy, physical disabilities, and developmental delays in Valders, WI sponsored by the Cerebral Palsy of Mideast Wisconsin.
  • Camp Trillium - Offers and promotes recreation programs to bring children with cancer and there families together. [London, Ontario, Canada]
  • Camps 4R Kids Foundation - A non-profit organization that seeks donations to fund free family camps and recreational experiences for kids with disabilities and their families.
  • Children's Association for Maximum Potential (C.A.M.P.) - A Texas non-profit organization that provides camping and respite services to children with developmental, physical and mental disabilities and their families.
  • Cincinnati Childrens Hospital Medical Center: Summer Camps for Kids With Special Needs - The Hospital Medical Center recommends various summer camps for kids with special needs.
  • Colorado - Vail Valley Learning Camp - Summer camp for kids with learning differences.
  • Connecticut - Hole In The Wall Gang - A camp for children with cancer and serious blood diseases.
  • Deaf Kids' Kamp[ Kids/Teens/Mature Teens ] - Sponsor-supported week-long camping experience in the mountains of Southern California for deaf children ages 6-17 who communicate in sign language.
  • Easter Seals Camp Wawbeek – ( www.wi.easterseals.org ) Sponsored by Easter Seals Wisconsin near Wisconsin Dells the camp is for individuals 7 years or age and up; with physical disabilities.
  • The Double "H" Hole in the Woods Ranch - New York camp for children with physical and emotional disorders.
  • The Fowler Center for Outdoor Learning[ Kids/Teens/Mature Teens ] - Provides recreational opportunities for children and adults with mental and physical disabilities, including trails, adapted horseback riding, organic garden, and barnyard. Contains a mission statement, programs, photos, and employment details.
  • Happiness Is Camping - Camp for children with cancer. Wonderful, free summer camp complete with 24 hour medical facility in Blairstown, NJ. Happiness Is Camping provides kids with cancer a great summer experience.
  • High Esteem's Camp Goodwill - A central New York not-for-profit that provides residential camping as well as, year round programs for children/young adults with physical disabilities and of special needs.
  • Kids' Summer Camps[ Kids/Teens/Mature Teens ] - Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center recommends various summer camps for kids with special needs.
  • Iowa - Camp Courageous - Year-round recreational and respite care activities in a camp setting.
  • Kelly's - Created by a former camper at a muscular dystrophy camp. It was made to give information and a pictorial look into the activities for children at these camps.
  • Kentucky - Christian Deaf Camp - Camp for deaf and hearing impaired children, held at the Aldersgate Camp and Retreat Center in Irvine, KY, located near Richmond. Includes both hearing and deaf persons as counselors, and American Sign Language is used in all activities.
  • Kostopulos Dream Foundation - Summer camp for campers of all ages and ability levels for over 30 years. Salt Lake City, UT.
  • Lions Wilderness Camp for Deaf Children[ Kids/Teens/Mature Teens ] - A camp experience sponsored by the Lions Clubs of California and Nevada where deaf children ages 6 to 15 can learn outdoor skills. Includes schedule, history, calendar, photos, and application form.
  • Louisiana Lions Camp - Summer Camp for physically and mentally challenged and diabetic youth of Louisiana.
  • Massachusetts - Cadmus Cultural Camp - Provides opportunities for mentally retarded adults to have a full, exciting and very social summer experience. Campers will be housed in five of the lifesharing households while some of their full time residents are on their vacations.
  • Massachusetts - Camp Starfish - Serves emotionally, behaviorally, and learning disabled children by providing a safe therapeutic milieu in a natural camp setting with a one-one camper to staff ratio. Description of camp, pictures, camper and counselor applications.
  • Michigan - Special Days Camps - Summer and winter camp programs for children ages 5-17 who have or have had cancer.
  • Mid Hudson Valley Camp - New York camp for mentally/physically challenged persons, and children with cancer or HIV. High school and college staff volunteer time each summer. Sponsored by the Marist Brothers.
  • Mississippi - Camp Bluebird Tupelo - A Cancer camp for adults located in Tupelo, Mississippi held twice a year at Tombigbee State Park.
  • New York - Camp Jened - Provides a vacation for adults who have a wide range of physical and developmental disabilities, such as Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, Autism and Behavior Disorders.
  • New York - Camp Northwood - A seven week summer camp for children with learning challenges.
  • New York - Camp Oakhurst - Serves children and adults with physical disabilities. Summer Camp, Year Round Respite & Vacation Programs.
  • New York - Herbert G. Birch Family Camp - A week-long retreat that provides a sanctuary for children and families living with AIDS.

  • Ohio - Camp Nuhop - A summer residential program for any youngster from 6 to 16 with a learning disability, behavior disorder, or attention deficit disorder.
  • Ohio - Recreation Unlimited - Summer camp, day camp, respite retreat weekends for mentally and physically challenged from 8 to 80 years old. A beautiful 165 acre campus in North Central Ohio.
  • Ontario - Camp Winston - Operates recreational summer programmes for campers with special needs (learning disabilities, AD(H)D, Tourette Syndrome and autism).
  • Pennsylvania - Camp Lee Mar - All the fun and activities of a traditional summer camp. Also academics, speech and language therapy, and vocational preparation.
  • Shady Oaks Camp[ Kids/Teens/Mature Teens ] - An eight week residential summer camp for children and adults with disabilities. Located in Lockport, Illinois. Owned and operated by the Parents Association for Cerebral Palsy Children. Contains facilities, history, photos, and details of fund raisers.
  • Special Days Camps[ Kids/Teens/Mature Teens ] - Summer and winter camp in Michigan for children ages 5 to 17 who have or have had cancer. Includes information on news and updates, FAQs, and camp leadership.
  • Special Touch - An organization whose goal is to provide disabled individuals around the United States or their families with a summer camp and a chapter support group they can attend.
  • Stone Mountain School - Summer camp operated by a residential school for boys in grades 6 though 12 with learning disabilities, behavioral problems, and emotional issues. Located in North Carolina.
  • Summit Camp and Travel[ Kids/Teens/Mature Teens ] - Serving boys and girls classified as having attention deficit disorders and mild emotional problems. Located in Wayne County, Pennsylvania. Includes newsletters, photo albums, and information on camp activities.
  •  Talisman Summer School[ Teens/Mature Teens ] - Summer camp for teens with learning disabilities, ADD and ADHD. Associated with Stone Mountain School, Black Mountain, North Carolina. Offers news on admissions and summer camp programs.
  • Therapy/Respite Camps: Kids with Autism and other Special Needs - Information about summer camps that focus on therapy for kids with special needs and/or respite for the kids and their families.

  • Wonderland Summer Camp - Missouri camp provides summer programs for adults and children with physical or mental challenges including: MS, multiple dystrophy, cerebral palsy, downs syndrome, prader-willi syndrome.
