
Dr. Hal Strough joined UW Oshkosh in August 1999 after serving as Athletic Training Curriculum Director and Assistant Professor at Georgetown College (KY) for one year. Prior to that he served a four-year appointment as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Health, Kinesiology, and Leisure Studies at Purdue University. While at Purdue, Dr. Strough spent two years teaching and two years working in the athletic training facility at the recreational gymnasium. Before that, he served as Head Athletic Trainer/Instructor at Campbellsville (KY) University from 1991 to 1994. Dr. Strough received his Ph.D. from Purdue University in 1998, his Ed.S. from Eastern Kentucky University in 1991, his M.S. from Eastern Kentucky University in 1990 and his B.S. from Central Michigan University in 1989. Dr. Strough is a certified member of the NATA, BOC, Inc. Exam Item Writer, CAATE Site Visitor, and Clinical Instructor Educator. He is licensed by the State of Wisconsin and chairs the WATA Student Education Committee. He is also an American Red Cross Instructor for Professional Rescuer CPR, Automated External Defibrillation, Prevention of Disease Transmission, Oxygen Administration for the Professional Rescuer, and Sport Safety Training

Mr. Wade Peitersen joined UW Oshkosh in August 1999 after serving as Assistant Athletic Trainer at UW Stevens Point for 2 years. Prior to his tenure at Stevens Point, Wade was the Director of Training and Conditioning at Peak Performance Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine in Oshkosh from 1995-97. Mr. Peitersen graduated from UW Oshkosh in 1994 and received a Master’s degree from Western Michigan University in 1995. He is a certified member of the NATA and licensed by the State of Wisconsin.

Mr. John “Jack” Johnsen joined UW Oshkosh in August 2004 after serving as Head Athletic Trainer/Senior Lecturer at Carthage College for the past five years. Jack is an employee of Affinity Health Systems and works at UW Oshkosh through a contract between Affinity and the university. He was previously with Affiliated Therapies of St. Mary’s in Blue Springs, MO and Calumet Medical Center in Chilton, WI. He is a 1995 graduate of Western Michigan University (MA) and a 1994 graduate of UW Oshkosh (BS). Jack is a certified member of the NATA and NSCA. He is licensed by the State of Wisconsin and an American Red Cross instructor for CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid/CPR/AED, and Sports Safety Training.
Program Responsibilities
Lyndsey joined the UW Oshkosh staff in summer 2005 through a partnership with Affinity Health Systems. She completed her MS degree in Exercise Physiology at South Dakota State University where she worked with the women’s volleyball and softball programs and also provided outreach coverage to area high schools. In addition, she served as a teaching assistant with Upper and Lower Extremity Evaluation, Modalities, Rehabilitation, and CPR/First Aid. Ms. Stier previously received her BS degree in Exercise Science/Athletic Training at Winona State University in Winona, MN and is a native of Minnesota.

Mr. Craig Biwer joined UW Oshkosh in August 2005 as an ad-hoc instructor and was hired on a continuing basis beginning September 2006. He was previously employed by Athletic Engineering in Seattle, WA and Capital University in Columbus, OH. He is a 2001 graduate of Northern Michigan University (MS) and a 1999 graduate of University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. He is certified by the NATA (ATC), NSCA (CSCS), and ASCM (HFI). Craig is also licensed to practice as an athletic trainer in the state of Wisconsin.

Jen is in her first year at UW Oshkosh after a five year stint at St. Norberts College as Assistant Athletic Trainer. Jen is a graduate of Stevens Point, WI and resides in Appleton, WI. She is working on her MS in Education Leadership at UW Oshkosh.
