Program Timeline
Program Progression Sequence: Timeline and Deadlines
Prior to Enrollment
- On-campus Visit (encouraged)
- Apply to UW Oshkosh
- Gain Admission to UW Oshkosh/Declare Athletic Training Major
- Complete 30 hours of observation in other settings if possible (i.e. high school)
- Contact Dr. Strough if you haven’t already done so
- Attend Odyssey (Orientation); Schedule Biology 105, Kinesiol 170, Kinesiol 175, and Kinesiol 185 for Fall Semester in addition to other general education courses
On-Going
- Submit Personal Information Form and Copies of CPR/AED Cards prior to beginning clinical experience
- Attend Program In-Service (Professional Sequence) prior to beginning clinical experience
- Submit Clinical Activities Form weekly
- Meet with Program Director RE: class schedule one week prior to registration date
- Register for Classes (refer to Advising Form) at the scheduled registration date & time
- Submit Course Evaluations for Athletic Training Courses beginning 11th week of classes
- Obtain Evaluations from Clinical Instructors/Supervisors beginning 12th week of classes
- Fill Out and Submit Self-Evaluation and Clinical Instructor Evaluation beginning 12th week of classes
- Meet with Clinical Instructor/Supervisor and Program Director during the 13th or 14th week of classes
Pre-Professional Year; First Semester
- Attend Introductory Meeting and Pre-Professional Orientation during the 2nd week of classes
- Begin Directed Observation Experience during the 2nd week of classes
- Identify Course Sequence for Pre-PT, Pre-PA, etc. if applicable
- Meet with Program Director concerning spring classes
- Register for Kinesiol 171, Kinesiol 173, Kinesiol 189 and BIO 211 plus general ed. courses
- Successfully Complete Course Work, Directed Observation, and general education requirements attempted
Pre-Professional Year; Second Semester
- Continue Directed Observation Experience
- Meet with Program Director RE: Fall Classes
- Register for BIO 212, Kinesiol 113, Kinesiol 241, Kinesiol 242, Kinesiol 269, Kinesiol 283, and Kinesiol 287 plus general education courses
- Register for Chemistry 105 if you intend to take it and/or your program of study requires it
- Submit (as part of your Kinesiol 189 Portfolio)
- Letter of Application
- Letters of Recommendation
- HBV series information
- Verification of 30 hours of clinical observation in alternative settings
- Personal Interview will occur in March/April
- Complete courses and directed observation successfully
- Final points tabulated/candidates ranked one week following semester
- Program acceptance/non-acceptance letter sent late May/early June
Professional Sequence/Beginning Year; First Semester
- Begin First Practicum (Clinical Experience) (All Prerequisite Requirements must be satisfied)
- Join WATA
- Register for Kinesiol 243, Kinesiol 245, Kinesiol 289, Kinesiol 348, Kinesiol 350 and Kinesiol 384 (or junior year) plus general education requirements
- Begin Looking for Summer Experience Opportunities
Beginning Year; Second Semester
- Register for Kinesiol 337, Kinesiol 340, Kinesiol 343, Kinesiol 387, Kinesiol 483 and either Kinesiol 437 or Kinesiol 485 and Nurs 359 plus general education requirements
Intermediate Year; First Semester
- Register for Kinesiol 344, Kinesiol 346, Kinesiol 351, Kinesiol 368, Kinesiol 384 (or soph year), Kinesiol 388, and Kinesiol 389, plus general education requirements
Intermediate Year; Second Semester
- Begin Researching Graduate School/Graduate Assistant Opportunities
- Apply for/Schedule GRE
- Register for Kinesiol 468, Kinesiol 475, Kinesiol 487, and either Kinesiol 485 and Nurs 359 or Kinesiol 437 plus general education requirements
Advanced Year; First Semester
- Register for Kinesiol 489 plus remaining general education requirements
- Begin Applying For Graduate and Professional School Opportunities
- Join NATA if you haven’t already
- Apply for BOC, Inc. Exam
Advanced Year; Second Semester
- Complete Graduation Requirements
- Complete File with Program Director and Program Exit Interview
- Prepare for/Sit for BOC, Inc. Exam by April
