The UW Oshkosh Department of Music invites trumpet students from around the state who are in grades 6-12 for a fantastic day of trumpet ensembles, workshops, performances, and clinics.

The high school track will include trumpet ensembles, sectionals, and presentations on practice routines, solo and ensemble literature, jazz improvisation, range development, & mouthpiece selection, among others.

The middle school track will also include trumpet ensembles and sectionals, with presentations on fundamentals, basic improvisation, scale practice, lip slurs, and trumpet maintenance, among others.

In addition, students will be able to try out new horns and mouthpieces, look at mutes, and browse through trumpet music by several dealers, including Heid Music, Edwards Trumpets, Kanstul Trumpets, Charlie’s Brass Works, and GR Mouthpieces.

A final informal performance at 4:00 p.m. in the Music Hall will complete the day, which will feature Dr. Marty Robinson, trumpet soloist Mike Henckel, and the student performances.

Application forms and $30 fee (which includes lunch) are due by
Tuesday, January 15th
