Kingdom by the Sea is the product of my research in the area of
British Art Song. It is my desire to introduce American audiences to British
song literature, much of which is still unfamiliar to those outside of Great
Britain. This CD features five songs by Charles Villiers Stanford, four
songs by C. Armstrong Gibbs, four songs by Ivor Gurney, four songs by Arthur
Sommervill, and five songs by Peter Warlock. -- Frank Hoffmeister

Was Foggy is the result of my idea to assemble and record music
by composers who, in some way or other, all have ties to Wisconsin. Each
of the four composers on this recording has some connection with this state
- John Harbison maintains a home in Token Creek, Wisconsin where a majority
of his music is composed; Lester Trimble was born and raised in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin; Michael Cunningham is Professor of Theory and Composition at
the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire; and Bruce Wise was Professor of
Theory and Composition at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. All of the
musicians who participated in this recording are professionally active performers.
