David Cowley holds a performance Certificate from Eastman School of Music and Doctorate in Music Performance from Florida State University.
As a solo cellist and chamber musician, Cowley has played throughout the United States. Also, as an Orchestral Principal Cellist, he has appeared throughout Europe, the Near East, and the Soviet Union (Russia).
Dr. Cowley's teaching philosophy is as follows: 'I like to challenge interested students with difficult repertoire while at the same time offering them my strong support.'
He has recently developed a passion for composition and has written 19 pieces for solo cello. His most recent creations are inspired by J. R. R. Tolkien's 'Lord of the Rings' saga. Cowley presently teaches cello; bass; and beginning theory.
