Math 485 Seminar in Mathematical Problem Solving Spring 2006

Topics

We will cover selected topics from graph theory, coding theory and other topics of discrete mathematics. Additional topics from current research areas will also be presented in class.

Homework

Homework problems will be assigned in class. Some of these problems will be turned in for grading while other problems will be open for class discussion.

Group Work

We will be solving problems by working in small groups each class period. Some of these problems will be turned in for grading. Other problems will be presented in class by your group. Class participation is expected.

Research Project

I will present several topics for a possible research project. Weekly updates are expected and you may work in groups of two or three on this project.
