Chapter 8: Infinite Series and Sequences (8.1-8.9)

Evaluation

There will be 4 one-hour exams (100 points each) and a comprehensive final exam (150 points). The lowest exam (of the first four) will be dropped.

In addition, many quizzes –both announced and unannounced- will be given. The content of problems used on quizzes will be based on recently assigned homework and class discussion. Your class average will be based on the total points scored on both quizzes and exams. There will be no makeup for missed quizzes!!

Grading Scale

A: 91-100 (You will receive several interim grade reports)

AB: 89-90

B: 80-88

BC: 78-79

C: 68-77

D: 55-67

F: 0-54

Homework

Homework will be assigned on a regular basis, but not collected. It is very important that all homework problems are completed- true understanding takes place as a result of this endeavor (and many test and quiz problems are drawn from assigned problems).

Attendance

Class attendance will not be recorded, but is essential that you attend each session if you are to succeed in this class. If you must miss class due to illness or participation in a University sanctioned event, I will expect documentation from the associated health official or coach (to avoid a zero on a quiz that might be given that day). Please e-mail me if you have a problem.
