HOMEWORK

Assignments will be given in class. These should be done before the next class period so that problems can be cleared up before new material is covered. All answers will be given so you should correct your own assignments. It is very important to do the homework daily and not wait until some later date. Things may look easy in class, but doing the problems on your own is a bit different. Keep a notebook of all homework problems with all work shown. Loose leaf is best, but bound is fine. I may ask to see this from time to time, especially if you fail any test.

EXAMS

There will be three exams :

Exam 1: March 2; Chapters 8 and 9

Exam 2: April 6; Chapters 10 and 11

Exam 3: May 11; Chapters 12 and 13

Makeup exams are only given when you have a very good excuse for missing an exam. You must arrange with your instructor to schedule a makeup. It will most likely be the following Thursday from 4:30 to 6:00.

Sample exams can be found on the web at the address : http://www.uwosh.edu/faculty_staff/gunaward/103.html

QUIZZES

There will be daily quizzes. Some will be in class, and some will be to take home. These may not be made up, so if you miss a quiz you will get a 0 for the grade. You will be able to drop your lowest 2 quiz grades.

GRADES

Each exam counts 25% of your final grade, and your quiz average counts 25%

GRADING SCALE

90 to 100 = A 82 to 89 = A/B 74 to 81 = B 66 to 73 = B/C 58 to 65 = C 50 to 57 = D

ATTENDANCE

Attendance is expected. If you miss a class it is your responsibility to find out what was covered and what was assigned. You will not be able to make up a missed quiz. It is easier to learn and remember math if you see it and try to follow what is happening in class.
