Trigonometry: Graphs and Models by Barnett, Ziegler and Byleen
Topics
We will be covering chapters 5, 6 and part of 7.
Calculator
A graphing calculator is required. I will be using a TI – 83+, but the student can choose a different one and assume the responsibility for learning to use it.
Help
You should get help as soon as you find yourself not understanding something in class. Please come and see me during my office hours. Tutors are available free of charge in Swart 113 from 8am – 4pm Monday through Friday. You are encouraged to work together.
Homework
Homework will be assigned from each section and will be collected to be graded. The lowest homework score will be dropped.
Quizzes
A quiz will be given almost every Wednesday. There will be no make-up quizzes. However, the lowest quiz score will be dropped. Quiz problems will be very much similar to the homework problems, so make sure that you do all the homework problems.
Group Work
At times we will be solving problems by working in small groups.
Exams
There will be 3 exams. The dates will be announced a week in advance.
Grading
Your course grade will be based on 480 total points.
- Three exams (each 100 points)
- Quizzes (100 points)
- Turned-in homework (60 points)
- Group work (20 points)
