I will be in the classroom at least 15 minutes before class and I will stay after class as long as I am needed. There will be an occasional night when I need to leave right away. You can reach me between 7:00 and 3:00 at the email above and you can call me after 4:00 at the number above.

Text: College Algebra: Graphs and Models, Barnett, Ziegler, and Byleen.

Topics: Chapters 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Calculator: The TI 83 or TI 83 plus or TI 84 will be needed for this class. You should bring your calculator to every class.

Quizzes: Expect quizzes regularly. The quizzes will resemble recent homework problems. I will let you know at least a class in advance when we will have a quiz. Quizzes will be short and will take only a small portion of the period. Some quizzes will be done in class and some will be done out of class.

Exams: We will have four exams worth 100 points each. The dates of the exams will be determined as we go.

Grades: Exams will make up 80% of your grade, quizzes will make up 20% of your grade. A = 91 – 100, AB = 86 – 90, B = 80 – 85, BC = 76 – 79, C = 67 – 75, D = 56 – 66.

I will expect you to be here for every class. If you miss a class, you are responsible for the notes and work. You must make arrangements ahead of time to miss a test or quiz. Failure to do so will result in a zero on the assessment.

Plan on working together throughout the semester because the best way to retain information is to attempt to explain it to someone else.

If you attend class regularly, take good notes, do the work in and out of class, and ask questions when you have them, you will be successful in this class.
