CALCULATOR I will be using the TI 83+, but any graphing calculator is fine.

TEXT BOOK Trigonometry: Graphs and Models by Barnett,Ziegler, and Byleen

OUTLINE We will cover chapters 5, 6, and part of 7.

HOMEWORK Assignments will be given in class. These should be done before the next class period so that problems can be cleared up before new material is covered. All answers will be given so you should correct your own assignments. It is very important to do the homework daily and not wait until some later date. Things may look easy in class, but doing the problems on your own is a bit different. Keep a notebook of all homework problems with all work shown. Loose leaf is best, but bound is fine. I may ask to see this from time to time, especially if you fail any test.

TESTS There will be 3 hour tests plus a comprehensive final exam. The dates are as follows: (1) October 5 (2) November 2 (3) November 30
(Final) December 12 or 14 . You may choose the date you prefer.

There will also be several quizzes. Some will be in class, and some will be to take home. These may not be made up, so if you miss a quiz you will get a 0 for the grade. You will be able to drop your lowest 2 quiz grades.

Test questions will be similar to homework problems , quiz questions, and examples given in class.

If you miss an hour test, I will grade the corresponding section of your final exam separately and put that grade in for the missing test grade. There will be no other make-up tests.

GRADES Your course grade will be the weighted average of the tests, quizzes and final exam. Each test counts 1/6 , the final counts 2/6, and the quiz average counts 1/6.

Number-letter equivalents are as follows:

94-100 =A 89-93 = A/B 84-88 = B 79-83 = B/C
71-78 =C 60-70 = D Less than 60 is failing.

ATTENDANCE Attendance is expected. If you miss a class it is your responsibility to find out what was covered and what was assigned. You will not be able to make up a missed quiz. It is easier to learn and remember math if you see it and try to follow what is happening in class.
