Traditional Reserve (paper-based)
Books, articles, videos and other materials for particular classes are placed on Reserve by faculty and instructional academic staff. These materials circulate to students for 2 hours or longer, depending on the request of the instructors. For assistance in locating particular Reserve materials, connect to the Polk Library Catalog and choose to do a Course Reserve search.
Two options are available for text-based items. Faculty can place paper copies on traditional reserve, which will be available for checkout whenever the library is open. The second option for articles, sample tests and other text-based items is electronic reserve or eReserve. The option of using both traditional paper-based and eReserve for the same material will not be available.

Electronic Reserve Basics
What is eReserve?
Electronic reserve, technically known as eReserve, is our attempt to bridge the gap between information and the end-user. Chapters, articles and other materials for a specific educational course, are electronically stored, accessed and shared via the Internet. eReserve is a system that provides worldwide accessibility to accommodate "anytime anywhere" educational supplements.
What are the benefits of using eReserve?
Students may access eReserve readings at any time of the day or night from any computer with Internet access.
How does eReserve work?
A clean black and white copy of the original article is scanned, the result, a PDF file, is placed on a server. This file is linked to the library's catalog system so that the item may be found by searching the Course Reserve option in the on-line library catalog.
How do I access eReserve?
Getting to eReserve is very simple. Follow the link to eReserve. You will need to install Adobe Acrobat Reader to view most eReserve files. You can obtain a free version of the reader at the Adobe products web site (http://www.adobe.com).
I am having problems opening or viewing eReserve.
Due to their size, some files may take longer to download than other files. You may also need to make sure that you have correctly installed Adobe Acrobat Reader.
