Call Numbers

Libraries typically organize books by call numbers. They use either the Library of Congress system or the Dewey Decimal system. Here at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, we primarily use the Library of Congress system. An exception to this is found in the K-12 nonfiction section in the EMC; these books are arranged by Dewey numbers.

Where are ESL books often located? (There are many exceptions however.)

Library of Congress System:

P

PE1128

PE1404

Dewey Decimal System:

370's

420's

Particularly 428
