This is the State Department's web page for locating information about regions and countries in the world.
Country Commercial Guides
Country Commercial guides provide detailed information on all aspects of doing business in a foreign country. Included is information about the political, economic, social and legal environment that would be of interest to importers, exporters and entrepreneurs.
Army Area Handbooks
The Library of Congress has created this web page which has the Country Studies/Army Area Handbooks which were created for service men serving in foreign countries. There are 72 handbooks in this collection.
CIA World Factbook

This is a copy of the CIA World Factbook for 1997 which is the most current edition of the Factbook that is now available.

The Library of Congress has put together this site which has links to web sites containing information about the nations of the world.

Global Edge (International Business)
This site produced by Michigan State University provides information pertaining to Internatioanl Business including information about doing business in most of the countries throughout the world.
Treaties in Force (2001)
This is a list of treaties and agreements of the United States in force as of January 1, 2000.

Foreign Relations of the United States

The Unviesity of Wisconsin Madison and the University of Chicago at Illinois has included the "Foregin Relations of the United States" in its digital collections. The site describes this collection as follows: "The Foreign Relations of the United States series is the official documentary historical record of major U.S. foreign policy decisions that have been declassified and edited for publication. The series is produced by the State Department's Office of the Historian and printed volumes are available from the Government Printing Office." The description indicates that the current collection is an incomplete run from 1860-1961.
