The Government Documents Division of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh is located on the third floor of the south side of Polk Library. Polk Library is located at the intersection of Elmwood and Lincoln Avenues. Entry to the library is from the mall which runs between Elmwood and Algoma avenues. The library is a partial Government Documents Depository receiving approximately 40% of the federal documents distributed to depository libraries. In addition, Polk Library provides access for the public to government documents in electronic format including electronic documents on the Internet and locally held CD/DVD Roms. The Government Documents Division is also a depository for State of Wisconsin documents and selected government documents from states bordering Wisconsin. In addition, this division of the library also houses United Nations documents and documents from the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development. The University Archives and Area Research Center are also housed in the Government Documents area of the library.

Most of the documents distributed to Government Documents can be checked out to patrons for 28 days at the Main Circulation desk on first floor south.  Items can be returned at the first floor circulation area and at the Government Documents desk on third floor.
