Critical Thinking Skills

A strong knowledge of the theories of mass communication and the press is vital to the education of all journalism students. The UWO journalism department offers many courses that teach these crucial critical thinking skills. Students will discuss and study the press, its evolution, and how it affects the public at large in courses such as Intro to Journalism and Mass Communication, Law of Mass Communication, Press and Society, and History of the Press. The department also offers a study in media ethics that all students will find valuable. Journalism students will apply these critical thinking skills to concerns and decisions they will need to make on the job.
