Student Achievements

Journalism students have many opportunities to gain honors and recognition in their college careers. The department offers several scholarships for journalism majors including:

- The Jeff Griffith Scholarship for Creative Portfolios in Journalism
- Scholarship for the Advancement of Interactive Advertising
- Multicultural Media Award
- David J. Lippert Memorial Scholarship (for news/editorial students)
- E. Garner Horton Memorial Scholarship (for public relations students)
- Virginia A. Sokolowski Memorial Scholarship (for news/ed students)
- Diversity in Journalism Scholarship

Majors can also be inducted into Kappa Tau Alpha, an honorary society for mass communication students. The Strategic Campaigns in Advertising and Case Problems in Public Relations courses offer chances for students to work on projects submitted to the National Students in Advertising Competition and Bateman competition classes. Any of these student achievements look great on a resume, and will help set the student apart in the job search.
