Advertising

Students interested in working in the advertising field should enroll in the advertising emphasis offered by the journalism department. This emphases focuses on teaching the student the skills necessary to create advertising campaigns and materials such as direct mail pieces, brochures, and print advertising.

It is also recommended that students pursue a minor or second major that will support their specific career goals. The Ad Club is an organization on campus that offers professional guidance to the advertising student.

Advertising courses include:

  • Principles of Advertising
  • Advertising Copy, Layout and Production
  • Advertising Media
  • Strategic Campaigns in Advertising

“The UW Oshkosh journalism department not only builds students' necessary skill sets, the professors take the time to place what they teach in context and shed light on the bigger picture. Two words equate what differentiates the UW Oshkosh journalism department from others in the region or nation: excellence and caring.”

John Feld, Account Supervisor
Cramer-Krasselt, Milwaukee
