2011 Newspaper Contest

Dear Adviser,

We know your students are dedicated and put in endless time and effort tomake your publications something they and your school are proud of. So givethem an opportunity to be rewarded for their efforts. Enter them in the spring2011 NEWSPA newspaper competition. Their work will be evaluated byprofessional journalists and journalism educators, and may gain publicrecognition.

The newspaper contest rules and entry forms can be found under the linksbelow. Please pay careful attention to the rules to ensure that your entries arecategorized and submitted correctly to avoid disqualification.

The newspaper competition has five divisions: writing, design, photography,student-developed Web site and publication. The writing, design, photographyand student-developed Web site divisions each have an entry fee of $10. If youenter one or several categories from each division, you pay that division’s entryfee only once. The publication division entry fee is $60.

The newspaper contest entry deadline is Tuesday, March 1, 2011.

Winners in the newspaper and yearbook contests will be announced, ribbons and certificates presented, and contest entries returned on Wednesday, April 13, during the 2011 conference.

Schools that are not NEWSPA members for 2010-2011 may submit their membership fee of $65 along with their contest entries and fees. NEWSPA membership qualifies schools to enter their student newspaper and yearbook in the annual contest and offers reduced rates for students and advisers attending the conference. A current list of member schools can be found under the membership link along with the membership form.
