| Sara Steffes Hansen teaches Principles of Public Relations as an adjunct instructor, a course she has taught since 2003. She also co-taught the National Student Advertising Competition course in 2004 and 2005.
Hansen is pursuing a Ph.D. in interactive media studies at the University of Wisconsin School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Her research interests center on marketing, branding, strategy and usage of the Internet and other interactive media.
Hansen also serves as Director of Marketing and Internet Strategist at Oracular, Inc., a role in which she blends business experience in marketing/operations and web development to provide a comprehensive approach to web strategy, usability, marketing, graphics/writing and development.
Hansen joined Oracular, in February 2002, after consulting for more than a year at J.D. Edwards, an enterprise software company in Denver, Colo. She led J.D. Edwards’ 2001 advertising / branding initiative, and other high-level corporate marketing efforts during the company’s restructuring. She managed an internal team that created, developed and launched the Marketing Resource Center, an intranet-based collaborative community that unites J.D. Edwards’ marketers in effort and activities around the world.
Prior to her consulting work, Hansen served as Director of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications at CIBER, Inc., a $750 million IT services / e-business company based in Greenwood Village, Colo. In March 2000, as CIBER announced three corporate spin-offs, including its packaged software division, Hansen was additionally named Acting Marketing Director.
Hansen also worked as media relations manager / corporate spokeswoman for KN Energy, Inc. of Denver, now known as Kinder Morgan, Inc.; as account executive at a Denver-based financial public relations firm; and as a newspaper reporter and state news editor for the Marshfield News-Herald in Marshfield, Wis.
Hansen earned a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from the University of Colorado-Denver and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
