Join the CETL Book Club!
The Inclusive Excellence Council is leading a new interfaith dialogue movement on campus. This initiative will culminate in Spring semester on April 14 with a presentation by Eboo Patel, a nationally recognized Muslim writer, activist and organizer who promotes interfaith cooperation and dialogue. As a lead-up to this event, the Spring Book Club will be reading Muslim American Women on Campus by Shabana Mir. The book explores the multiple pressures on American Muslim women students from their negotiating of family expectations to their grappling with popular monolithic stereotypes of Muslims. The book has already won two awards: The National Association for Ethnic Studies’ Outstanding Book Award and the American Educational Studies Association’s 2014 Critics Choice Book Award.
Please join us in discussing this exciting book!
