Options for Chemistry Majors

Majors may choose from six emphases: 
Professional Chemistry, Professional Biochemistry, Healthcare-Science,
Healthcare-Business, Secondary Education, and Biomolecular Science.

The "Professional" emphases, which have been approved by the American Chemical Society,
prepare students to work in industrial or government labs, attend graduate school in science,
or enter professional schools such as medical, dental, or law or pharmacy. 
The "Healthcare" emphases add courses from other departments that broaden the preparation for
healthcare professions such as medicine, or careers in healthcare industries such as pharmaceutical sales.
The Secondary Education emphasis prepares students to teach high school chemistry.

The new emphasis in Biomolecular Science is not yet in the Bulletin. 
This interdisciplinary option includes a significant number of courses from the Department of Biology & Microbiology. 
Students will be prepared to work in industrial or government labs, attend graduate school in science,
or enter professional schools such as medical, dental, or law.
