Advising

  1. If my name is on your STAR, contact me at 424-3076 or vaughan (at) uwosh (dot) edu for a private appointment.
  2. I'm really sorry, but I can't honor requests for a private advising appointment unless my name is on your STAR. There just isn't time in my day.  However, ALL students are WELCOME to attend one (or more) of my Open Advising sessions.  Be sure to SIGN-UP for these in the main Biology Office, Halsey 142.

Spring 2008 Open Advising for Healthcare-Interested Students and Bio/Micro Majors

Open advising this year will be held in the Halsey Science Center on SUNDAY EVENINGS to avoid conflicts with classes.  Some general information will be presented, but it's also a chance for individual Q&A.

We do ask that you SIGN-UP in the Main Biology Office (Halsey 142) so that presenters don't show up to an empty room.  If you decide to attend at the last moment, you are welcome to join us.

To better meet your advising needs, two types of sessions will be offered:

"Freshman/Transfer" sessions: Designed to address the special concerns of students who are new to UW Oshkosh.  Co-presenters will include life science and healthcare advising specialists from the Undergraduate Advising Resource Center and Career Services.  Spring 2008 date: Feb 24, 6:30 pm, Halsey 175.

"Sophomore Plus" sessions: Designed to address the concerns of students who are pretty well fixed in the life science or healthcare education pipeline -- generally sophomores, juniors, and seniors.   Students may be in the process of deciding on a career track, preparing for an entrance exam, applying to a graduate school, or looking for a job.  Co-presenters will include senior students who have "been there, done that" or even alumni who are "in" a graduate program and can provide insider information.  Spring 2008 date: Feb 17, 6:30 pm, Halsey 175.

You may attend as many sessions as you like, and it's just fine for a Freshman to attend a Sophomore Plus session, or vice versa!

In addition to Open Advising, visit the advisor assigned to you on your STAR and make use of the wonderful people at Career Services!
