Welcome
Welcome to the new University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh High School Art Day web-site.
We invite all Wisconsin High Schools to participate in High School Art Day, 2008. Everything you will need to register for both the exhibition and High School Art Day itself is available here. Please note all areas of the site and enjoy the gallery of winning work from 2007.
This will be the 35th annual High School Art Day. It is an opportunity for high school students (grades 9-12) to show their art in a juried high school exhibit and to participate in a day of related activities at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. For just the second time, the 2008 event will also be an opportunity for high school art teachers to exhibit one of their own assignment exemplars in a simultaneous show, "High School Teachers' Exemplar Exhibit."
We are pleased to have Mr. Jim Ely and Mr. David Kuecherer as our jurors for the high school work this year. Mr. Ely is the former Chair of Art in the Oshkosh Area School District. He taught art at Oshkosh North High School. For 30 years he was also a studio potter and a gallery owner in Door County, Wisconsin.
Mr. Kuecherer taught art in public schools for 34 years, 30 of which were at the high school level. He also taught part time at the university level for 6 years. He has served as a juror for many art competitions including the National Scholastic Exhibition. Since retiring, Mr. Kuecherer has pursued his own art of painting and metalsmithing.
We look forward to your participation in High School Art Day, 2008.
