Student Sales:

Every December and May, the advanced ceramics students  hold a sale in the ceramics studio that includes a variety of handmade pieces- from utilitarian  & decorative pots to unique ceramic objects and sculpture.  Money made form the sale goes towards supporting the ceramics department’s visiting artist program.

Visiting Artists:

Every October a national exhibiting contemporary ceramic artist is brought in to further broaden the students’ scope of what is possible with the material and what is currently happening in the field.  This usually consists of a public slide lecture, a day of demonstrations, and individual critiques with advanced students.

Empty Bowls:

The ceramics students participate in the Oshkosh Empty Bowls event, associated with the Hunger Task Force, by donating handmade soup bowls.

Field Trip to Kohler:

A field trip to the famous Kohler Arts & Industry in Sheboygan, WI is planned for every other spring semester for the advanced students as an extension of the slip casting project.

Art Department Sponsored Field Trip:

During most semesters, the Art Department sponsors a field trip.  It is usually to Chicago, although trips have been made to St. Louis, Toledo, and Minneapolis.  These field trips are an excellent way to see firsthand many of the works of art you see as reproductions in your art history classes.  The Chicago trip costs approximately $20.00 plus additional money for the cost of any special exhibitions that you choose to attend.
