Interests and expertise: Aaron Vlasak holds a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a M.A. and Ph.D. from the New School for Social Research—all in philosophy. His dissertation, entitled “On Philosophic Hyperbole: Plato’s Daemonic Socrates,” provides an interpretation of Socrates’ so-called “divine sign” in the corpus of Plato. Lately Dr. Vlasak has been researching various interpretations of outbursts of violence and the possibility of peace in the context of the post-enlightenment, world-historical condition. In 2008-2009 Vlasak will be teaching Environmental Ethics and Religious Ethics at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. |
