If you need help with a specific course, please give us your 7-digit course OU# when emailing or calling. The OU# (organizational unit number) is a unique identifier D2L creates for your course.

D2L gives instructors the ability to record short (6-minute) audio clips and attach them to news items, discussions, when creating a dropbox, or leaving feedback in the dropbox area.

The News section of D2L is the first thing students see when they enter your course site. It is a good idea to include at least one news item.

Notifications allow a user to receive emails when certain actions are taken in a course. For example, you can receive email notification when a news item is added or updated, an updated count of new discussion posts, or a reminder before a dropbox closes.

D2L is constantly changing. Instructors can sign up to receive email announcements regarding outages, training opportunities, feature updates, etc.

If you have a crosslisted or multi-sectioned course, the two separate sites can be combined into one site. Combining course sections allows you to have all of your students and course materials in one convenient location. Combining D2L course sites will also combine your D2L-linked Library Course Pages into one page, with library resources (e-reserves, reference databases, etc.) for that course.

How Do I Export Course Materials? by Bradway, Sarah T — last modified Mar 18, 2013 01:22 PM
Course materials can be exported from D2L and saved, the package can then be imported at a later time or into another instance of D2L. Student data, such as grades, discussion posts, and dropbox submissions are NOT included in the exported files.
