Prevention

UW Oshkosh is committed to providing the safest campus possible for our students, faculty and staff. Sexual assault, intimate partner violence, stalking and/or harassment will not be tolerated.

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh community has a few different prevention strategies that are being implemented on campus:

Bystander Intervention - Wednesdays @ 4 PM in the Counseling Center UWO offers an hour long bystander intervention workshop to any students, faculty and/or staff that are interested. You will become equipped with the skills to be effective and supportive allies in the face of violence, discrimination and more.
Learning when to intervene in situations and why you should will be an important lesson learned. We all have a responsibility to derail and interrupt violence and violence-condoning attitudes on campus.
Voices of Men Multiple parties at UWO are working on developing a partnership with Fox Valley Voices of Men.
Voices of Men's mission is to end sexual assault and domestic violence by dismantling Man Box culture and building a culture of Healthy Manhood.
If you would like to become involved in this partnership please contact the Campus Victim Advocate (920) 424-2061 or kitzeros@uwosh.edu
Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) Classes RAD is a self-defense program intended for survivors of sexual violence or those who fear being the target of sexual violence.
The goal is "to develop and enhance the options of self-defense, so they may become viable considerations to the individual who is attacked." A variety of mental and physical techniques are taught in order to reach that goal.
An email is sent out every semester to all students that explains how you can register in this one credit course.
