Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) Research

"SOTL has allowed me to think deeply about my teaching and the students I teach, to be more reflective and intentional in teaching...it has also made teaching 'community property' by talking about it with colleagues and students more than I would have otherwise..."

- Baron Perlman, SOTL Scholar and retired UW Oshkosh Professor of Psychology

"SOTL provides me with an opportunity to analyze practices in teaching to determine what does or does not work in the classroom..."

- Teri Shors, 2009 SOTL Scholar and UW Oshkosh Professor of Biology/Microbiology

Getting Started

If you're new to SOTL and interested in addressing a teaching and learning challenge with systematic inquiry, we suggest you start with our "Steps to Success" link.  If you're a published SOTL scholar, add your information and expertise to the "SOTL Database."  If you are experiencing a teaching and learning challenge, we invite you to use SOTL findings to address the challenge - so check out the Web site's " Teaching and Learning Resources". If you need funding, potential sources support are provided as well.

Are you a member of the UW Oshkosh teaching community in need of other assistance?  E-mail the cst@uwosh.edu for a personal consultation.
