Jean Bord
Jean has been an employed as a custodian for UW Oshkosh since April of 1997. He
started out in academics as a custodian, then in July of 2003 moved to Res Life
in Gruenhagen Conference Center. In January 1999, Jean became union steward for
WSEU local 579 here on campus. In March of 2010 he then became Vice President of
the local union. Now Jean is involved not only locally with the union, but on
the state wide level, where he serves on the Education Committee, is a Blue
Collar Delegate for bargaining, and has attended state conventions since 2004.
This is Jean’s second time around on CSAC, he served as Vice Chair in 2003-2004,
then Chair in 2004-2005, followed by CSDAD Chair in 2005-2006 in his last term.
Jean since then has been on the CSDAD Finance Committee, and Awards Committee.
Jean was part of the first Professional Development Program for Classified Staff,
won the Star Award in 2002, followed by the Outstanding Performance Award in
2006.
In January 2000, Jean started working part-time for UPS as a
pre-loader in the mornings, Monday- Friday 4am-8:30am. When he is not busy with
work he enjoys deer hunting, and spending time out in rural Fond du Lac where he
grew up in a farming community. Jean also spends time with his partner, Doug,
doing a variety of social events with friends and neighbors. He has two dogs, Oscar and Felix, and follows the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers.
