Letter from Council Chair

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh University Staff team.  Being a University Staff employee on this campus is a unique opportunity.  Because of the support of Chancellor Wells and other members of administration, we play a key role on campus and have a voice in decisions that are made.  I would like to take this opportunity to make you aware of some of the resources and benefits available to you as a University Staff member.

The Classified Staff Advisory Council was formed in 2001; however, the name has been now changed to University Staff Council (USC) and serves as the governing body for represented and non-represented University Staff.  Members are elected from all areas of campus.  USC works closely with the Chancellor, administration and other governing bodies to help shape the priorities and future direction of the campus.  More information can be found throughout this website.

The Classified Staff Development and Appreciation Day began in 2000.  The day is held each year in May or June and gives Classified Staff an opportunity to be recognized for all we do.  We have professional and personal development sessions we participate in, as well as, a time to socialize and reconnect with others across campus.

University Staff are encouraged to serve on university committees.  This is a great way to share an area of expertise, help make a difference in an area you are passionate about and make connections across campus.  More information about committees can be found in the Representation on University Committees section or by contacting April Dutscheck  at dutschecka@uwosh.edu

Professional development is valued across campus.  University Staff can pursue professional development opportunities with the help of grants established for us.  Grant information can be found in the Awards and Grants section.  We also have a Leadership Series that runs every other year.  A group of 30 classified staff will participate in yearlong training sessions, consisting of a few hours each month, to develop leadership skills.  Please find out more in the Leadership Series section.

Congratulations and welcome to campus!
