The History of CSAC and CSDAD
In May 2001, under the guidance of Chancellor Richard Wells and Beth Heuer, Director of Affirmative Action, the Classified Staff Advisory Council held it's first meeting. The charge of the Classified Staff Advisory Council (CSAC) is to promote a positive professional environment for all classified employees (represented, non-represented, limited term and project appointment), support professional development activities, encourage informed communication among classified staff and with the broader University community, and to serve as advisors to the Chancellor and other University administrators.
The committee has fifteen members, each serving three year terms with a maximum of two consecutive terms. Terms are staggered so that 5 seats are open each year. Nominations to fill vacant seats and the subsequent voting is done in March of each year, with those chosen taking their seats in May.
Each year, in June, the academic year for classified staff culminates with the Classified Staff Development and Appreciation Day (CSDAD). Chancellor Wells stated, "Classified staff at UW Oshkosh contribute greatly towards the vision, mission, and goals of the University and in creating a learning environment for our students to grow and develop." One of the campus initiatives he supports is the Classified Staff Development & Appreciation Day; the first CSDAD was held June 1, 2001. The other was the implementation of the Classified Staff Advisory Council, with the first meeting date of May 8, 2001.
