CHAIR’S REPORT
• U-Plan: The new academic building is still a go for the 07/09 biennium. The parking ramp and Wellness Center are still on schedule. They are still working on funding for the Elmwood Commons remodel.
• Madison: The meetings in Madison with Chancellor Wells, AnnMarie Johnson, Tom Shields, and Mark Dishaw went well. They met with Terri McCormick, Carol Owens and Carol Roessler. Jean felt that the meetings really gave a voice to the (usually) underrepresented areas of classified and academic staff. Jean thanked Carol Roessler for her help on behalf of UW Oshkosh in getting our building projects going. The pay plan and lost wages were discussed. Chancellor Wells lent vocal support for staff at each of the meetings.
• Other news: Affirmative Action Council is now called the Council of Equity and Affirmative Action. Also, CQI has officially been disbanded.
• Election of CSAC Vice Chair: The council members were asked to nominate someone within the council to finish Jan Keene’s term as vice chair for this year. This person would then be CSAC Chair next year. (Jean volunteered his help for a few months to help this new chair feel comfortable in the position.)

Paulette nominated Jill Reichenberger; Mary seconded the motion.

Patti nominated Cindy Schultz; Karen seconded the motion.

Cindy declined the nomination because of the current shifting of positions within COLS and being unsure what that would mean to her postion.

Paulette moved to unanimously elect Jill Reichenberger as Vice Chair; Karen seconded the motion.
Welcome Vice Chair Jill!

COMMITTEE REPORTS
• ACUG Representativee - Patti Wild
RSS (Really Simple Syndication), Lab Mods, and a summary of Student Tech Fees were some of the areas discussed at the last ACUG meeting.

• Committee on Committees - Karen Reiter
Dawn Detlaff will be serving on the reaccreditation committee. Also, the new Committee Interest Survey is ready to go on the CSAC website.

• Classified Staff Grant Committee - Paulette Feld
Grant applications closed on Monday, now the selection process starts. The committee will be using $600+ from the endowment fund this time around!

• CSDAD Planning - Lynda Olsen
Everything for the day is on target. Friday is the last day to register. Posters are up – the marketing committee did a great job on them. The t-shirts have been ordererd.

• Grant Fund Raising Committee - Jill Reichenberger
The two for one cookbook sale was a hit – will look at doing another sale in May for Mother’s Day. Becky Payne is working on the letters to send out for the CSDAD raffle.

• Marketing - Cindy Schultz
CSDAD t-shirts will be handed out in Reeve Union (where they do the textbook buyback) on May 25 & 26. Registrants will need to pick up their own t-shirt, except for Facilities Management and Residence Life, whose t-shirts will be delivered to their buildings.
Also – the spring newsletter is being worked on.

NEW CSAC BUSINESS
• Elections Committee
Ellie and Holly gave us an update on how the CSAC elections went this year. There were only 127 ballots returned – less than half of the number returned last year. Some of the “voter apathy” was determined to be the fact that most categories only had one – or no – nominees. But there were 20 write-ins! These write-in candidates were contacted and 6 have accepted the nomination in two categories. There will be another ballot sent out by the end of this week for those two categories.

Several suggestions were made to make elections more clear-cut in the future. The council will address this issue at upcoming meetings.

“ROUND ROBIN” (other University business of interest to CSAC)
Jean wanted to add that at the Madison meeting, Carol Roessler made the statement that the staff at UW
Oshkosh should be grateful for Chancellor Wells’ support of staff on our campus and allowing staff to become so involved in things like Strategic Planning, having CSDAD, etc.

Tim Danielson informed the council that the 04-05 Classified Staff Team Building/Personal Development Program is ending soon. Because of some changes that need to be made in the program and other supervisory training taking place on campus in this next year, there will not be another Classified Staff Team Building/Personal Development Program until the 06-07 academic year.

NEXT CSAC MEETING: Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. in Dempsey 212.
