TREASURER’S REPORT
Karen shared information on the CSAC budget.  The largest expense this past month was the purchase of the Dreamweaver software that will allow someone on the council to keep our website updated versus relying on others to do it for us.

CHAIR’S REPORT
The $140 raised in Sharon Mitchell’s name will be turned over to the Foundation as a donation to the endowment fund in her name.

Dan Hoyt may be back to work in as little as one more month.  Anyone wishing to donate leave-time to Dan to help cover the time he needed to be off should contact Human Resources.

Red and Sabrina attended last month’s U-Plan meeting.  The student referendum on bringing beer back to campus was discussed, as was the Faculty Senate resolution dealing with guns on campus.  A fiber-optic upgrade to Blackhawk Commons was approved.  UW System President Riley announced that UW Oshkosh has been chosen to receive the Diversity Award.

      BETH HEUER  Healthy Titans 2010

Beth joined our meeting to tell the council about the exciting new program being developed by Human Resources called Healthy Titans 2010.  The program will kick off in January with a call for approximately 200 volunteers to start the program off.  These volunteers will be asked to complete an 8-page health risk self assessment, which will be followed by professionals (through Theda Clark) doing a finger-stick blood test that will give such information as cholesterol count, blood sugar level, etc.  This information will be completely confidential  no university entity will receive the information.

The results will be evaluated to determine the top health risks for our employee population, which will enable Human Resources and EAP to develop programs that address these health issues.  At this point the volunteers may chose to work one-on-one with a graduate nursing student to work on their personal health risks.

If the program goes well, it’s possible that Tom Sonnleitner would present the results to UW System and ask that UW Oshkosh become a pilot program for the whole university system.

Watch for more information to come out in January and consider taking part in this new program!

OLD CSAC BUSINESS
·       Due to some misinformation the council received concerning what needs to be done and what is already being done at Pollack House, the volunteer effort there has been cancelled.

·       The Holiday Party is set for Thursday evening, January 26, 2006.  Jill will send more details as they are available.

NEW CSAC BUSINESS
·       Come to the January 11th meeting with ideas for how to improve the election process.  This year both a President and Vice President will have to be chosen as well as an election for several council members.  The process needs to be revamped so a second ballot is unnecessary.

·       UW Oshkosh Key Operational Plan  Jill asked that all council members go online to read the information out there and then e-mail her with one area they think should be discussed in January.

“ROUND ROBIN” (other University business of interest to CSAC)
Both Michelle Jensen and Dan Hoyt have been out of the office enough in this past month or so that the Newsletter has not been completed on schedule.  Jill and Patty will follow up to see what needs to be done to get it finished and sent out.
