Sara Stichert
Sara Stichert is a Library Services Assistant-Advanced/Lead in the Music and Art Departments.  She is currently in charge of cataloging and maintaining the collections in the Music Department Library and the Art Department Slide Library.  After graduation from UW Oshkosh with a bachelor’s degree in Library Science, she decided she liked being here and has been employed at the University for 20+ years.  She has worked in Polk Library, where she worked at the Circulation Desk, the Reserve Desk, in Cataloging and the Bindery and also in Audiovisual Services at Polk Audiovisual Services, Clow Audiovisual Services and the Instructional Resource Center. 

Sara is involved with her Union local, AFSCME Local 579, where she has served as secretary for at least 5 years.  She also serves on AFSCME Council 24’s State Employee Political Action Committee.  In addition to serving on many committees at Polk Library over the years, she is currently co-chair of the CSAC Awards Committee and a member of the CSDAD Planning Committee. 

Sara has also served on various committees for Wisconsin Library Association, where she was chair of the Support Staff Section in 1996 and also as secretary of the Support Staff Interests Roundtable (SSIRT) of the American Library Association (ALA) in 1998-2000 and a member of the ALA SSIRT Strategic Planning Process Committee in 1997.  She has also planned and presented programs for and at Wisconsin Library Association conventions.

In addition to the above, Sara is very involved in the community of Oshkosh.  She currently serves as a member of the United Way Board of Directors, is the 1st vice chair of the Winnebago County Democratic Party, and is the secretary of the Winnebago County Labor Council.   She is also the treasurer of the 6th Congressional District Democratic Party and is involved in her church as the chair of the Worship Committee of St. Peter’s Catholic Community and also serves as an usher at St. Peter’s.

In what little spare time she has left, Sara enjoys camping, travel, quilting, snowshoeing, hiking, gardening, helping political candidates get elected to office, and scrapbooking
