Our Mission StatementThe highest quality commitment to your financial needs
Membership is Ownership The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Credit Union is a non-profit financial institution owned and operated by our members for the benefit of all who belong. This is the difference between our credit union and other financial institutions. Members put their money into different savings accounts, and that money, in turn, is lent to members. After all expenses are paid, loan interest income is returned to all members in the form of dividends and financial services. UW Oshkosh Credit Union is governed by a Board of Directors that establishes and reviews policy. The Directors are Credit Union members who are elected by the membership and serve without pay. Every member has only one vote, regardless of how much he or she has on deposit. At the credit union, there is no select group of shareholders that profits more than anyone else. All members profit individually and collectively. The UW Oshkosh Credit Union was formed in February 1966 by dedicated employees of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Originally operating out of a small room in Halsey Science Center, the Credit Union moved to an office in Dempsey Hall before purchasing and renovating 738 High Avenue in July of 1996. In January, 2002 the Credit Union opened a full service, branch office in Reeve Memorial Union on the UW Oshkosh Campus and in January 2003, the Credit Union closed the 738 High location and opened a new main office at 90 Wisconsin St in Radford Square. The UW Oshkosh Credit Union is an over $20 million financial institution co-operative serving about 5,000 members. Our mission is to provide the best possible financial services to savers, borrowers, and other users at fair and favorable rates while maintaining the Credit Union's long-term financial stability. The UW Oshkosh Credit Union is a state-chartered credit union, organized under strict regulatory laws that are monitored and enforced by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the United States Government and the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions-Office of Credit Unions. Member shares are federally insured through the NCUA to at least $100,000. |
